Lactarius rugatus

Hello adi,

I'm sorry, but I noticed that the the picture is named Lactarius rugatus (runzeliggezonter Milchling), in the second thread the first picture is likewise L. rugatus. L. rugatus seems to be a double to Lactarius volemus, and is a mediterranean species. I had the impression that the colours on the pictures are more intensive and slightly darker than those of a usual Lactarius volemus. Nevertheless I'm a little bit doubtful because the milk of the shown mushroom is flowing so rich, which is characteristic for L. volemus.
There are regions in Germany where Lactarius volemus is growing again in bigger numbers, it could perhaps be that this species is recovering again.

Barbanera, does L. rugatus grow frequently in your region?? L. volemus is an excellent muhroom to eat (if he would grow more frequently). Is L. rugatus edible and if yes how does it taste?

Ciao

Birgit
