"Within the Boletales also some interesting examples of adelphoparasitism can be mentioned. Field mycologists made the observation that Gomphidius roseus and Suillus bovinus very often fruit in close neighborhood to each other; sometimes the fruit bodies of both species are developed stipe by stipe being loosely connected to each other. Microscopic studies of the mycelia of such associations revealed that the hyphae of Gomphidius roseus are located within the hyphae of Suillus bovinus so that endoparasitism is established. Suillus bovinus feeds from the assimilation products of pine trees (mycorrhiza symbiosis) as indirectly Gomphidius roseus as a parasite on Suillus bovinus does. Since the barrier to the roots of the pine tree is overbridged by aid of the mycorrhizal connection of Suillus bovinus, the fungus Gomphidius roseus is finally a parasite on the pine tree and on Suillus bovinus, as well."

Andere Gomphidius-Arten scheinen sich m.W. ähnlich zu verhalten.
