Hallo Felix und Jochen,

nach Baral führt die Bestimmung zum Komplex G. barlae/umbratile/nigritum. Offenbar sieht er keine nennenswerten Unterschiede.

Hier der Schlüssel in Englich:

Preliminary key to Geoglossum (Baral, Jan. 2000, fresh material)

1. Stipe covered by a c. 200-280 µm thick, strongly gelatinized layer of strictly parallel and perpendicular, very narrow hyphae (*1.5-2.5, apically -4 µm wide), continuous and slimy, not forming squamules .. 2

1. Stipe covered by a c. 80-120 µm thick, not or little gelatinized layer of more or less parallel and perpendicular, much thicker hyphae (*(2-) 3-6 (-10), apically 4-8 (-10) µm wide), forming ± discrete squamules especially in the upper part .. 3

2. Apical ring +2-2.7 x 2.2-3 µm, paraphyses apically straight, embedded in hyaline gel, wall pale to bright brown, bright brown ones distinctly warted, upper cell *12-41 x 3-10 µm, many ± strongly inflated; spores *(43.5) 58-73 x 4.5-5 µm, (1-3) 4 (5-7)-celled, bright (olivaceous-)brown already within the living asci, LBs large; head rather short (12 mm). Often growing intermixed with G. fallax in acid meadows among large acidophilous mosses (especially Rhytidiadelphus) .. G. glutinosum

2. ...

3. Spores within the living asci always hyaline, becoming light (to bright) brown in dead asci or long after spore discharge, large LBs (2-)3-4.5 µm diam., lying ± in one row, paraphyses covered (apically or laterally) by a thin, bright brown exudate (at least partly) which is distinctly separate from the hyaline to very pale brown cell wall, apical ring + 3-4 x 3.5-5 µm, IKI BB/?(r)B; stipe deep brownish-grey, 1.3-3.5 mm thick, upper part distinctly floccose, basal part light grey-brown .. 4

3. Spores within the living asci finally becoming bright brown(-olivaceous or -reddish), large LBs (1,5-) 2-3 (-4) µm diam., lying ± biseriate (to multiguttulate), paraphyses completely without brown exudate, wall pale to bright brown, apical ring +2-5 x 4-6 µm; stipe black, smooth or finely floccose .. 6

4. Spores *(41-) 68-100 (-108) x 4.5-6.5 µm, 8-10-13-celled, asci *200-290 x 19-23.5 µm (+190-225 µm), wall of paraphyses ± hyaline, apex curved for 0-180°; head 8-22 x 3-5 mm, stipe 1.3-3 mm thick, 2-4x as long as head. Often under conifers (Pinus, Picea) in acid meadows among large acidophilous mosses (especially Scleropodium purum, Rhytidiadelphus) .. G. fallax

4. Spores *64-78.5 x 5-5.8 µm, max. 8-celled, asci *174-230 x 17-20 µm (+160-200 µm), wall of paraphyses pale brownish, apex curved for 0-270°; head 10-15 mm long, stipe only slightly longer .. G. ?elongatum

6. Paraphyses apically ± straight, here mostly strongly catenate-moniliform (cells ± isodiametrical, (5-) 7-15 (-20) x (5-) 6-10 (-12) µm, often constricted at septa, sometimes with double cells), walls pale to bright brown, bright brown ones with a brownish, distinctly warted gel sheath; spores *(47-) 55-76 (-82) x 5.6-7 µm, bright brown, finally consistently 8-celled, asci *197-245 x 21-25.5 µm, apical ring IKI (r)B/BB, µm; head 12-45 x 5-25 mm, flattened, sometimes large spathulate, elliptical(-fusoid), stipe 2-6 mm thick, 1-1.5x as long as head. Koelerion, ... .. G. cookeianum (= C. ophioglossoides)

6. Paraphyses apically some straight but some or many curved for 45-270 (-450)° under a wide (or narrow, "barlae") arc, apical cell elongate, 15-25 (-34) x 4-8.5 µm (or -11 µm, "barlae"), rarely constricted at septa, walls pale to bright brown, smooth (always???); spores *(45-) 53-95 (-100?) x (4.7-) 5-6.5 µm, finally consistently 8-celled, asci *190-240 x 18-26 µm, apical ring IKI rB or RB (espially upper ring); head 10-22 x 3-8 mm, irregular ± fusoid, often with 2-3 deep furrows, stipe 2-4 mm thick, 1-2.2x as long as head. Koelerion, ... .. G. barlae/umbratile/nigritum

Gruß Peter
